{"id":111,"date":"2006-03-15T22:41:28","date_gmt":"2006-03-15T22:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.plutino.net\/journals\/ethan\/?p=111"},"modified":"2006-03-16T00:42:53","modified_gmt":"2006-03-16T00:42:53","slug":"surveillance-glow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.plutino.net\/journals\/ethan\/?p=111","title":{"rendered":"Surveillance Glow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While walking home from the car rental office after our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plutino.net\/journals\/amy\/?p=142\">trip last Sunday<\/a>, Amy and I saw our first <a href=\"http:\/\/dailystar.com.lb\/article.asp?edition_ID=1&#038;article_ID=21000&#038;categ_id=1\">traffic camera<\/a> in the flesh.  This may not seem like a big deal, but if you have any experience with the driving here, you will understand why we found the existence of such technology both humorous and hard-to-believe.  In fact, all we have by way of proof is this grainy photo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plutino.net\/journals\/ethan\/images\/amy_traffic_cam.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" class=\"blogPhoto\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I almost forgot to mention it, but as we were taking this photo a nearby soldier started walking towards us as he drew back the bolt of his M-16.  General carelessness with their weaponry isn&#8217;t nearly as uncommon with the soldiery here as I&#8217;d like, but this kid had a new one on us.  Far from being menacing, it was just kind of&#8230;weird.
